February is the love month, and we decided to take the opportunity to share God’s love by preparing a Toscanna Penne Pasta meal for those we serve. The challenge we were faced with, and one that is becoming increasingly more common, is sourcing the volume we need to make the many meals that we prepare.

An important ingredient in this dish is the sauce, and we had two options, make it from scratch, which we had planned on doing (until we worked out how much raw ingredients we needed—scary), or get a ready made sauce (a useful tip shared by one of our patrons). Once that tidbit of information was found we needed to get it (a hundred litres of it—not something you can pull off a supermarket’s shelf). Fortunately this patron, is a restaurateur who reached out into his network of suppliers and not only sourced what we needed but sponsored it too. Now figure out how to prepare these meal in large quantities—ever tried cooking 20kgs of pasta in one go? Yeah me neither.

It’s on these special occasions that we go all out, and decorate the tables (where possible) to make the meal feel just that little more special—after all we want them to feel loved. There’s always some extra goodies (sweets, cup cakes, etc.) handed out with the food.

Thanks to all our patrons who contributed to this activity, we manage to make over a thousand (1000) meals. So many people felt God’s love through your support, it was truly fulfilling.
